On Friday, March 25th, our little bug turned 2! Holy cow, that seem impossible to me! We had the big birthday bash at "Lyla's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse." It was a great day in every way. There were kids jumping around in the jump house, playing, eating, having their faces painted. Friends and family from near and far attended and the weather was PERFECT! By the end of the day both Fabian and I were completely exhausted, but it was all worth it! Thanks to all that participated in our celebration and the donation of gifts to ACH child and family services!

Here are some pictures of her two year photo session. As you can see, Mickey is her fav!

The ice storm of 2011

We are only 11 years into the new century and I think we may have already had the ice storm of the century in the DFW metroplex. Temperatures dropped below freezing in a matter of minutes and precipitation that was once drizzle, turned to freezing rain and sleet in an instant. In no time, we had no less than an inch of ice that covered every bit of the ground. To top it off, it snowed sporadically for almost 24 hours. By the time it was done, the metroplex was one big sheet of white.
I remember as a child being excited by this kind of thing, but the thought of being cooped up in the house for 72+ hours is no cake walk. No shopping, no outside entertainment, and for some, no power or water for a while. We have endured rolling blackouts and a frozen well head that stopped our water supply dead in its track. Not to mention the fact that this ice storm has totally rained, or iced for that matter, on Superbowl XLV's parade. The excitement that was once in Downtown Fort Worth's Sundance Square has all but disappeared. The ESPN announcers couldn't take it, moving their broadcasts inside. Only those bored out of their mind or those with a downtown homestead ventured out to see the spectacle of it all.
It is safe to say that I will no longer complain about the blistering heat because that is what I know, what I understand and what I am used to. If I liked being cold like this, I would move to the Dakotas or something.
However, among in all of the ice and snow there were many blessings! I was personally feeling pretty worn down from working long hours and trying to juggle being a good mom, wife, and employee. Even though I have been working from home these past few days, I feel refreshed and rejuvenated! The most important joy of it all has been spending time with Fabian and Lyla! There have been silly games of catch, chase and ride the pony. Lots of laughs, giggles and tickle times. We have read books endlessly, snuggled while watching Mickey Mouse, and danced to our favorites by Brad Paisley and Easton Corbin.
They mentioned on the news that that we haven't had a storm like this since 1989 and I actually remember it quite well. We lived on large hill. My cousins and I made sleds out of cardboard boxes and went down the hill so many times the ground tore through our jeans. We missed several days of school and it was fantastic! I know that in 22 years I will remember the "Ice Storm of 2011" with just as mush nostalgia.

Its that special time of year

The time of year has come upon us that makes us feel all warm inside. The season of giving, thanks, and perpetual hope. I know I have said it many times before, but this year I feel more blessed than ever. There is so much to be thankful for that I could spend hours writing it all down. Most importantly, I am blessed to have my family. That all starts with Fabian. I knew when I took the new position that it would be hard on us both. More hours for me and more responsibility for him. I am so proud and lucky to have him because he has been very supportive and so great! He is the greatest dad any little girl could ever hope for and I can only pray that their bond continues to strengthen over the years. Just thinking of them makes me smile inside and brings tears to my eyes at the same time. It is really overwhelming sometimes; my cup runeth over.

On another note, we switched Lyla into a new school a few weeks back and it was the best decision ever. She is flourishing and is learning so much! She is still really into music and dancing. We took her to New River's, Jingle Jam, and she had a blast! She was clapping to the beat, dancing, singing and having an absolute ball! I really wish I had that experience on film. I love the purity and simplicity children possess. The really encompass the phrase, "dance like no one is watching." I can't wait for Christmas this year. We have been hiding all of her presents in the spare bedroom because we want to see her reaction to the tree on Christmas morning. She probably won't know what to do with herself! However, I think the family will enjoy watching her than she will opening. It always seems to work that way I guess.

Many Blessings to all and may you have a Merry Christmas!

The best time of year!

I absolutely love fall! She has been spending a lot of time with her Tio Jesus because he is about to leave for Bolivia for at least the next two years. They have a really great bond and she is very drawn to him. And of course she has completely stolen his heart, which she has a habit of doing to people.

I am more excited about the coming holiday season that ever! This will be the first Thanksgiving/Christmas in our new house and I am looking forward to hosting these special occasions! Spending time with family and friends is what I enjoy most. I have been working a lot of long hours, so I am especially looking forward to a little family time with my two favorite people.

I can't wait to start Christmas shopping and decorating for Christmas. I don't know how I am going to control my spending this year because I have no idea what to get for Lyla. I know I can't go overboard because I have a feeling everyone else will. ;) I am definitely breaking tradition and putting up the tree before Thanksgiving this year! It will be a pain to keep her out of the tree but it will be worth it!

I also I thought I would share one of Lyla's true passions.........dancing. Yes friends, we have a dancer! Prepare to laugh!

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v8.nonxt5.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D6243e006e0f573bd%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331407904%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D5C57FB3717932FD730F6D9D3089F3B1CA7943B85.7828231B7747C24694C368881E0F2E3E5D020BD7%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D6243e006e0f573bd%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DDV2puMvZxo_X65hqccrsl2B2Fh4&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

New beginnings!

I can't believe it has been almost 3 months since I posted last. In that time a lot has changed! Of course Lyla is growing, thriving and talking more than ever. I am truly amazed by her vocabulary and ability to comprehend things. One of our favorite games is to ask her what a certain animal says and she will always reply with the right sound. She knows quite a few animals so obviously we are very proud! ;) (duck, dog, elephant, fish, bird, wolf, lion, cow, sheep and horse are just a few)

Anyway, the really big news is about me! I changed jobs!!!!!!!!! I know most people are pretty shocked when they hear it because I have spent the last 10 years at the same firm, but I will just say that this was a necessary and very welcomed change. Every day I wake up and don't think I can be any more blessed that I was the day before, and somehow God always surprises me. This was something that I prayed about for a very long time and God started speaking volumes to me and I knew I had to respond. It wasn't an easy decision for me, but one that had to be made. Life is full of difficult choices and I just had to have faith that God is leading me in the right direction. Change is hard, scary, and exciting all at the same time, but without change we won't continue to grow. Without it we become stagnant, complacent and luke warm.........all things our Lord does not want us to be. He wants us to be happy, motivated and excited about the future and that is what I am right now, joyful and excited! Blessings to all!

Lyla's last week with me

Today marks her 14 month birthday and with that, her last week with me at work. In some ways I am looking forward to having a little more independence and improving my productivity at work. On the other hand, I know that this has been a very special time in both of our lives and we got to share these last few months together...........now it is coming to an end.

Selfishly, I wish I could keep her with me forever, but she is her own little independent person now and she requires more attention and yearns for discovery and exploration of new things. I am also very sad today that this is her last day at the Playhouse. They loved and cared for her so well the few hours a week she was there. Words can not express how sad I am that we couldn't make it work out long-term. The hours and money just wouldn't allow it and I can only pray that her full time school is just as great. That would be a true blessing. I hope as a mommy that I am making the right decision for her and that she will be as happy going forward as she has been in the past. :)

A new beginning

After Lyla turned 1 year I told myself that I wasn't going to feel obligated to update my blog every single month however, this month is different because we have been through so many changes.

First of all, we FINALLY moved! Oh my gosh, the move was absolutely brutal. It rained the entire time. We ran out of room on the moving truck so we had to go rent an additional trailer. The house BARELY got finished in time for us to move it. In fact, we still don't have a yard, just a big muddy mess! Despite all of this I am so incredibly excited and thankful that things worked out the way it did and that we are exactly where we want to be. It was only by the grace of God that things worked out perfectly. What a true blessing and thankful doesn't begin to describe what I feel right now.

The house will be a work in progress for a while, at least in terms of getting settled in and decorated. That is the way it always goes and so I just have to find the patience......and money until then.

Lyla has adjusted great! She had to sleep in her pack-in-play a couple of night but it didn't seem to bother her a bit. She loves her new room with all the extra space for toys and such. The big news with her is that she is taking steps! Baby ones, but yes, they are steps. She is getting a little braver every day and thinks her new found adventure is hilarious!

Among all the chaos we did actually find time to have a family photo shoot. Jennifer Matlock did such a great job, especially with Lyla not feeling her best that day.

I just wanted to thank everyone that has been thinking of us and praying for us. We sure have felt the pressence of the Lord over the past few weeks.

1 year!

Wow, this week came and went so quickly I just realized that I hadn't posted her about her being a year old! The past year has truly been the most precious and special time of my life. While it is has gone by lightening fast, it has been a year full of many blessings. Lyla has brought something to my life that I could have never imagined and now that I have it, I can't imagine my life without it. I guess only a parent can really understand what I am saying, but what a true blessing having a child is. I could never ask or hope for more than what God has given me with Lyla. She fills my heart with happiness every single day and I am pretty sure that goes for her daddy as well. I have never seen two peoples' face light up the way theirs do when they see each other. It is such a precious moment and an honor to be able to witness. They will never know how sweet the two of them are together.

I honestly can not believe it has been a year since I went through 24 hours of labor and gave birth. In some ways it seems like an eternity ago, but in others, just yesterday. I can only hope and pray that the rest of my life is blessed half as much as my first 30 years have been. Honestly, a person couldn't ask for much more. I am so proud to be her mommy!

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v13.nonxt8.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Dd77fdcab35f3c9db%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331407904%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D496BDD33B915692B036AA98BC243B96BFC99F594.933BEDFE91FCA5C51E9ED6145FC0459E178B132%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Dd77fdcab35f3c9db%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DAgviRowfIp1rZnppheRfZ7hswzI&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

11 months

This was a really hard month for me. A great month for Lyla, but everything just kind of hit me. Oh my gosh, she is about to be one! Are you serious? Where did the last year of our lives go? I guess we must have had a lot of fun because time sure did fly by.

While Lyla finally started walking, crawling and cruising literally from one day to the next, I found myself mourning. I felt sad about losing my little girl because she no longer acts like a baby. She is turning into a big girl right before my eyes. Her little face is changing with the coming of every tooth, which is 6 now. Her communication is definitely developing. She has learned to point and shake her head no to let us know what she wants and doesn't want. She will waive her hands to show me the sign "all done." And oh goodness is she talkative! Her favorite words are "dada", "duck", "dog", "hi", "bye bye", "baby" and sometimes "mama". Oh, oh, oh, I totally forgot to add that she is finally giving kisses!!! I love it so much, but I think it absolutely melts daddy's heart.

I think we are going to have little socialite on our hands. She is so friendly. Everywhere she goes, she just smiles and waves at everyone like she has known people her whole life. With every smile and giggle you can really see the true nature of her sweet little soul.

So I spent a few days in dumps and now I am over it. I have to be, there is a party to plan. A very special one if I do say so myself. So stay tuned. There will be birthday updates before you know it.

10 Months!

It is mind boggling how your life can change in such a short period of time. The fact that babies develop as rapidly as they do always astonishes me. Ten months ago Lyla was a precious, tiny infant, completely dependent on us for everything and today she is a little person with her own abilities and personality! She has definitely decided that crawling isn't going to be for her. She is 100% content on rolling around and pulling up when she wants to. One of the major developments this past month has been her personality. We have seen so much concentration, determination, a little frustration, lots of smiles and giggles, and communication it amazes me.

She loves to clap, clap, clap and wave occasionally. Bath time is still one of her favorite pastimes. She insists on playing in a standing position most of the time. Oh and I almost forgot to mention that she is taking steps, that's right, steps while holding on to our fingers. She likes to move along the couch, stepping side to side to transition between her toys. And of course eating....she eats in a progression now. If her favorite foods are on the tray, she will pick all of it out and eat it first, then she eats in order from left to right. We tried several scenarios and she managed to show us that there was a method to her madness. Blueberries are still her all-time favorite, but she also loves her puffs!

We have two teeth on top now, and two more are coming in as we speak. Somehow she got pink eye, so we have been battling that for the past week, but nothing seems to bother her too much, except the eye drops. Holy cow, what an epic battle that is four times a day!

She still comes to work with me most days and loves to play in her jumperoo! Thank goodness she still likes it because I don't know how I would keep her entertained otherwise. I know that I am going to have to find more outside help very soon. It is going to break my heart not having her with me all of the time, but I know it is best for her because deserves the extra attention. So if anyone knows of anyone that keeps kiddos during the day let me know! I have really put off looking because of our pending move.

Speaking of which, after the first of the year we have been showing the house like crazy! Our home will be ready at the end of March and we are so excited!!!! I am having a little bit of a hard time figuring out how I am going to plan Lyla's birthday though, because the move will likely coincide. Oh well! I know it will work out and I have so much to be thankful for and celebrate that I am not going to let the details ruin it.

9 months

I know, I know. I have really fallen off the wagon with posting updates. To be honest, I really haven't felt like saying much. It isn't that anything is wrong or that I am not happy. Things just haven't seemed right. My Granny passing away is still tough to deal with on a daily basis and the holidays just weren't the same. I carry so much guilt because I felt so "blah" this year and it was Lyla's first Christmas, but honestly this was the strangest holiday I have ever had. My Granny always made the holiday special and I just didn't feel right celebrating without her. In addition, Fabian worked a 24 hour shift on Chirstmas and so it felt very lonely not having him with us. I wasn't alone by any means. I was surrounded by my wonderful family, but sometimes you can still be lonely even though you are surrounded by a thousand people.

Anyway, moving on....... Well, a lot is going on with our sweet little Lyla! No, she isn't crawling yet. ARGH! However, she gets where she needs to by rolling around ;) She has also discovered that she no longer likes being on the floor. She wants to see the world from a standing position. In fact, she may skip crawling altogether. We have another tooth that just came in on top. So we are up to three! Her little gums were so red and swollen. I felt so sorry for her. They had blisters and were bleeding :(

She absolutely loves to feed herself, especially blueberries! I have to admit that she is a pretty clean eater. In the past few days she also learned to clap pretty well and wave. It is so adorable!

She had a great time at Christmas! She did great when we visited Santa! I was waiting for her to reach up and pull on his beard, but she was very smiley and behaved like a little lady. While she didn't quite grasp the concept of opening presents she did a little opening on her own. We now have toys everywhere and realized the one thing we forgot to get her is a toy box. Ha! I don't think I have ever seen her more tired than Christmas evening. She fell asleep in the car on the way home around 7, and she didn't wake up until 8am the next morning. Poor baby! All in all, she was trooper, just like always :)

A final tribute

Tuesday, December 2nd is the day I have dreaded since I can remember. Did I know it would be that day, no, but I knew the day would come. That day my precious, sweet, beloved Granny passed away at the age of 75. Her body was broken from years of putting everyone else ahead of herself, and ultimately her own health. Her fight for survival and recovery was a long and hard fought battle but she ultimately lost. Years of diabetes coupled with many other tragic ailments over shadowed her bright and beautiful mind. I know she was so tired and that she fought to stay alive. However, I am so grateful that the moment that our Savior decided to take her to heaven was a peaceful one, taking her ever so gently as she slept through a rare morning snow. But even in death her spirit still lives because I can still feel her with me almost like none of this ever happened. Maybe I am somewhat numb or even in denial because sometimes it doesn't even seem real or maybe its just a dream; I want to wake up.

What can I say about this woman that has been so instrumental in my life to do her justice. I have come to the conclusion that there just aren't any words to express her impact on my life. She has played so many roles in my life and to say that I will miss her will be the greatest understatement I have ever made. She was the most amazing person I have ever known and I know that I am truly blessed to have had her in my life. I have never known anyone as selfless, understanding, forgiving, nurturing, unconditionally loving, and genuine as she was. We had an indescribable bond and love for one another that I know was very rare and special. I am so grateful that she was here to meet Lyla. I only wish Lyla could have known her great-grandmother like I did.

As I sit here, my mind is overwhelmed by the many wonderful things I want to share about her, but the list is too great and I don't think there is enough time in my lifetime to share them all. All I can say is that she was truly a great lady. Her heart was tender, words so soft, sang like an angel, and cooked like the devil. The best way and only way I know how to honor her is to make sure that her legacy lives on through me. I have a responsibility to carry her memory on to my family, especially Lyla. It is crazy to think where we were this time last year. In some ways it seems like an eternity ago, but then like yesterday. She continues to grow and thrive, enjoying new foods every day. Let's see so far she has had peas, green beans, squash, avocado, apples, bananas, guacamole, tuna, chicken and spaghetti. My bad on the spaghetti! Her pediatrician said to give her what ever we eat, so one night I smashed up some spaghetti for her and lets just say she rejected it, 100%. I don't know if it was the texture, flavor, seasonings.........whatever it was she gagged until she puked! I felt so bad :( I was kind of surprised because she had loved everything I had previously given her. So note to self, no Italian stuff for a while!

I have been making her baby food with her Beaba. At first I was worried it would be a cumbersome and time consuming task, but it is actually so easy. I also feel like I am doing some very healthy for her by avoiding additional chemicals and preservatives.

Developmentally, she is sitting up great now and she has two teeth! The past couple of weeks she has really been scooting around on her knees but she hasn't quite grasped crawling. Oh, the big news for her is that she is finally rolling around both ways like crazy! The day she figured it out she made it seem like she was a pro all along.

We also decided to take the plunge and put our house up for sale. We just listed it but we are hoping a praying for a positive outcome. Thank goodness our builder is going to work with us through the process. It is crazy to think that this will be the last "holidays" at this house.

Halloween

It was our first Halloween this year and it didn't quite go as planned but it was still fun all the same. We started it off by attending a very well planned costume party at the Borg's on the 23rd. We were all supposed to show up dressed in a theme. It was all planned out. Fabian would be a firefighter (I know, we have no originality), Lyla would be his little Dalmatian, and I would go as Cruella De Vil. Well all of those plans came to a screeching halt when we realized that Fabian was on shift that day. It was a total bummer, but hey, that is the life of a firefighter and I am sure that there will be many more holidays similar to this one, this coming Christmas in fact.

She was so funny to watch because I could tell that not only was she exhausted since we were about an hour past her bedtime, but she had stimulation overload. Everyone tried, but no one could distract her from all of the bright colors and kiddos running all over the place. She also got her first taste of icing. She was a fan I will just say that!

The actual day of Halloween came and went without much of a bang. The night before I noticed her sneezing and sniffing but by the next evening it turned into a full fledged cold. We still decided to take her Mainstay Farms for a photo opp, but with her not feeling well a smile was hard to come by....not existent actually. The evening came and we didn't even turn on our porch light the for trick-or-treaters! Since she didn't feel well we just decided to call it a night and decided to skip handing out candy this year. At least we saved some $$$ because last year we went through 16, yes, that is 16 bags of candy!

As I write this I am battling a little cold that was generously given to me by Lyla. I can't complain because it hasn't been too bad for me, but I can't say the same for Lyla. Initially I thought she might be teething again but it has turned into a full fledged, snottiness that I can't describe. I feel so terrible for her because she is so congested it is hard for her to even eat. I have never felt more terrible than Saturday night, which was when her cold was at its worst. She went to bed pretty easily only to be awaked by throwing up in her bed. Needless to say she wasn't too happy about that. I have never heard her more upset but by the grace of God, after rocking her for about 30 minutes she finally gave in and went back to sleep.

Being helpless is the worst feeling in the world. As a parent we are supposed to be a source of comfort and there was nothing I could do for her to make her feel better. Even though the past couple of days have been a little rough I am still thankful. I am so thankful that it is just a cold and not the flu or even worse, H1N1.

Lyla's Christening

Lyla was Christened on September 27th, 2009 at Forest Hill Presbyterian Church. Many friends and family were in attendance. It was such a wonderful and glorious day! That was the first day I got to feel true pride for being Lyla's momma. She acted like a perfect little angel and looked like one too in her adorable little dress. Paul Thompson gave the service and christening. He is a person that is so very important to our family. We were married in that very church by him just a little over 7 years ago and now he has christening my beautiful baby girl.

This was a day of celebration filled with the Holy Spirit that I will cherish forever.

6 months

On September 25th, Lyla turned half a year old! She is growing like crazy and embarking on new adventures every day. At her most recent appointment she weighed in over 17 pounds, so needless to say she isn't the least malnourished. She is now sitting up unassisted for several seconds, eating home made baby food, chewing on her feet, responding to the call of her name and cutting teeth! She has had a very busy week or so because most of this happened within the past few days. One tooth is already in on the bottom, and the second isn't far behind. I have say that she has been such a trooper through all of these dramatic changes. However, this is how she has been the entire time, nothing but easy going. She must take after her daddy 100% because anyone that knows me can tell you that I am definitely on the "type A" side of things.

She continues to go to the office with me a few days a week. Everyone enjoys her so much. She brings a little something extra to the work day, being a lot of extra smiles and laughs. I have to admit that I most grateful that I am able to take her and enjoy her. It is a true blessing and Dave will never know how appreciative I am. She also enjoys her time at the Playhouse and University Christian Church. It is a new experience for her every day and I know that she is very socialized because of her diverse experiences.....at least for now. ;0)

On another note, Fabian finished Swift Water training with the Fort Worth Fire Department a couple of weeks ago. That was a very grueling process for both of us! He was in training almost every day for three weeks straight. We have both learned to take everything in stride though, I guess a baby does that for people.

I am super proud of him because he really does strive to do his very best with passion and compassion, which I think is important. A lot of guys become jaded or desensitized after a few years.

Oh, and we are thinking hard about moving. I guess a baby, two adults and two dogs is just making our house feel smaller by the day. The decision isn't set in stone yet, but whatever God's will is what we accept.

5 months have come and gone and life just keeps getting better!

Lyla turned 5 months this past week and every day I think to myself that I couldn't love her anymore that I do right now, and then the next day I find myself saying the same thing. I had no idea that having a child would bring this much joy and love into my life. That is not to say that I wasn't happy before her presence, but having her has just amplified everything. It is like a flower that has a better, brighter bloom. I find that I have more love in my heart than I ever imagined, and not just for her. I know many say that a baby changes everything. There is no doubt about that, but I think having a baby has definitely changed my life for the better. Were there growing pains and major adjustments, sure! Were there times of severe sleep deprivation and panic, sure! Were all of things 100% normal growing pains, absolutely!

However, most importantly, has the love for my husband and family changed, you bet ya! It has magnified 1000 fold. Every day that I see Fabian with her, being a great daddy, taking care of her, and making her smile, it melts my heart! I love that she brings a warm smile and pure happiness to so many people. Now I would like to say it is because she has a special gift in doing so, but that would be a little biased and unrealistic of me. ;)

I don't know, but maybe it is God's way of making things right in this world, finding balance in a world of complete chaos. What ever the reason, a baby's touch, giggle, or scent, it is healing to the soul. She makes me whole and gives a sense of warmth inside that is completely indescribable.

Turning 30!

Turing 30 seems to be a pivotal age in society. I guess I never understood why until the day actually came and went. I found myself reflecting on my past thirty years and pondering the meaning of my life. I realized that I have had some great, shinning moments, and some not so great, but looking back I wouldn't change them for anything because all of those experiences have made me the person I am today. I have walked down many paths, some filled with trials and tribulation and some filled with great joy and accomplishment. However, I am eternally grateful for all of these experiences because they brought me to my husband, baby girl, friends, family, job, career, education and so on. I can't imagine my life being any different and I realized that I am so very blessed. So here is to my next thirty years, may it bring as many blessings and wonderful memories as my first.

4 months old already!

We have one healthy baby on our hands! She is so cheerful and content....most of the time ;) We couldn't be more blessed. This past month she learned to roll over at will and I think she is on the verge of discovering her feet. After a year of hoping and praying we were finally blessed with our little bean. I remember the day like it was yesterday. We had just decided a few days prior that we would "take a break" and since God has a since of humor, little did we know we were already going to have a baby.

I can honestly say that the past year has been the most amazing experience and I can only hope that the blessings continue. Lyla was born on March 25, 2009 weighin in at 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19.25 inches long. She wasn't due until the 29th and we had scheduled an induction for April Fools day. Little did we know, Lyla had plans of her own. After feeling an insatiable urge to clean the house from top to bottom, then acting on it, my water broke! Fabian was on shift at the Fire Department of course. So Lyla's birth story was much like the movies portray. The whole thing was quite cute actually and I am so glad to have the experience of things happening naturally.

Anyway, time flies because she has been with us for 3 months already and I can't imagine what life was like without her. And so the journey continues....and I hope you will join us! =)
